Belsat is the only independent Belarusian language television channel. It was formed in 2007 by a group of Belarusian and Polish journalists as part of the Polish public broadcasting company Telewizja Polska S.A., in partnership with Poland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and several European governments and foundations.

Its mission is to provide viewers with reliable news, promote the national culture and language in Belarus and combat disinformation in countries covered by pro-Kremlin media.

Belsat broadcasts about 21 hours a day all year round in Belarusian and Russian. Almost 300 associates, including journalists in post-Soviet countries, editors and technicians in Poland, prepare its original content. Additional news material is provided by correspondents in major European capital cities.

The channel has made almost 200 documentary films, focusing on rediscovering non-Soviet aspects of Belarusian heritage and exposing various difficulties of today’s life in former Soviet Republics.
